Ayanna’s Dream

There is a world,

its called Dreamer’s Paradise

in that world you can have anything

whatever your heart desires

but there is a price

in order to take on a dream you have to let one go

the rulers of the world decided they didn’t want foolish people who only thought about dreams

they want you to value the dream you had 

there was a woman

beautiful

tall

elegant

graceful

long dark silky hair

golden skin

she made the grass bow as she passed it

this woman belonged to the land of dreams

she was everyone’s dream

but the rulers owned her

and sadly her dream could never be attained 

her dream was freedom

but the rulers saw the danger of freeing her

everyone desired her

she had never been truly free

the rulers felt that now she was free to roam to show the world her beauty without being accountable

if she was owned by another  it would destroy her soul

take away what was her 

one day a woman of equal stature and beauty came into the town

there was a gathering

a town meeting , a time for renewal

the townspeople were to discuss the freedom of this woman

they held a vote of course the majority wanted to free her so each person was told

to free her they had to give up the one dream they held to the longest

of course the rulers knew this was a joke

as the dream they held to longest was to own her for themselves

so another year passed and her freedom was lost 

the meeting dispersed everyone left except this beautiful new stranger 

the woman approached the rulers 

inquiring about the history of the town 

asking to meet this woman 

offering gold and jewels 

her interest was peaked 

never before had she seen beauty controlled and yet survive so vibrantly 

even the most beautiful of flowers fade over time when removed from the earth 

yet this golden skinned woman flourished 

her soul danced in the limits of her owners 

the owners were selfish,

while they cared for this woman they were unable to show love 

it isn’t until we have expectations that we know disappointment 

this stranger convinced the owners to introduce the golden skinned woman to her 

the next day a feast was prepared

the stranger paid handsomely, all her savings were gone

she paid them all for one meeting with this woman

they met in a large room

filled with many people

as if this stranger would be able to magically draw the woman away the moment their eyes met,

they knew

the aura in the room was smothering 

after the meeting the stranger approached the owners

she asked to have the woman as her own

the owners repeated to her what they had repeated so many times before

you must give up the one thing you desire most

she agreed

she said yes you can have my greatest desire

in return for her freedom

the owners squirmed excitedly they brought the golden skinned woman out and both embraced

and as if in a fairy tale world,

everything stood still for a moment

then the owners look to the stranger and asked what is your greatest desire

she smiled held the hand of her new lover and said

my greatest desire in life is that i become the property of a strong united force such as yours and serve

 to give back to the world what i have received

the owners were in shock

in order to free one they lost two

their greed overtook them

and both women left the grounds hand in hand

to start their life free and ready to share their understanding of the world on a new level
